There was a nice little table for meals, the bathroom had all the essentials, and towels were changed daily. Hot water was never an issue, and the room was cleaned and tidied every day. It looked exactly like the photos, if not better. We'd asked for a room with a view and didn't get one, but they upgraded us to a luxury suite as compensation, which was generous. Complimentary water and tea were provided. The owner was extremely pleasant, gave us a city orientation on our first day, and checked in with us daily. The main staff member who handled luggage and served breakfast was also lovely. The owner even let us make a couple of short international calls without charging, despite our insistence on paying. He also gave us a small farewell gift and said goodbye the night before our early flight. The room was warm during a cold Istanbul stay – there was no thermostat, but opening the window sorted it, and I'm sure the owner would have fixed it if we'd asked. Breakfast was decent with fresh ingredients. The room was quiet, with no street or guest noise. The location is great; the area might not make the best first impression but it's safe, just 5 minutes from the tram and the Blue Mosque, and about 10 from Hagia Sophia.”
